Frequently Asked Questions - Consignees
[Support Center Home]

Q: Why can't I find my consignee on the consignee look-up?

A: The consignee look-up list is held by USPPI. Whenever you enter a shipment that contains a new consignee for an USPPI, AESDirect will automatically add their profile to the consignee look-up for that USPPI.

Q: I have some shipments where I do not know the ultimate consignee at the time of export, what should I do?

A: AES allows you to report the consignee as "Cargo Sold En Route." Fill out the Consignee information as:

Ultimate Consignee Name: SOLD EN ROUTE
    Address 1: SEA
City: City of First Port of Call
Country: Country of First Port of Call (ISO Code)

You must update the Consignee information within 4 days of exportation.

Q: I have a shipment with an ultimate consignee in Mexico, is there anything different I have to do for this shipment?

A: The only difference is that you will have to report the Mexican state code in the ultimate consignee profile. There is a look-up on this field that will display the Mexican states after you enter Mexico as the country.
