Welcome to KCMetro-Alerts.

Today's storm, an early afternoon Mariners home game and the ongoing closure of the I-90 Express lanes for expansion joint replacement have the potential makings for travel and transit delays throughout Metro's service area.

While there are so far no major incidents, there will likely be slowdowns in various areas during the morning and afternoon commutes.

Metro encourages everyone to use extra caution, be patient, find a way to share the ride and be aware of conditions around you as you travel.

Visit Metro Online at www.kingcounty.gov/metro for updates during the morning and afternoon commute times.

Thanks for using Metro's services.

Travel safely.

Metro is reminding transit customers that, starting Monday, May 4, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will close the HOV express lanes on the I-90 bridge across Lake Washington.

The closure is around the clock for up to three weeks and is likely to cause significant delays for all traffic – including buses and carpools.

There may also be delays on I-405, I-5, SR-520 and area surface streets as drivers find alternate routes in order to avoid I-90.

Metro does not expect to reroute its buses. Buses will continue to follow normal routes and serve all their usual stops, but there are likely to be delays.

Metro advises riders to plan transit trips using regularly published timetables, then expect delays. Visit Metro Online for transit options.

To find all the ways to share the ride, visit Metro Rideshare information or RideshareOnline.com.

In the sense that the best thing everyone can do is not add more vehicles to the situation, using transit and ridesharing options are good choices, even though all traffic will be affected.

Other options include traveling at off-peak times, telecommuting, bicycling or otherwise flexing schedules and travel patterns to avoid the times when traffic is expected to be heavy. Metro will be monitoring the I-90 situation, as well as the rest of its service area, and will report significant impacts as they occur.

Thanks for riding and for using Metro's services.
