AESDirect Service Upgrades

The AESDirect Service is planning system upgrades this weekend, which should be effective by Monday, September 11th. Key items included in this upgrade are listed below.

Compliance with new USPPI regulations

AESDirect will be upgraded to comply with the Foreign Trade Statistics Regulations (15 CFR Part 30) covering U.S. Principal Party in Interest and related items. Users can become familiar with this regulation by reading material available on the AESDirect Support Center page. This information is listed under “Reference Materials”. If you have questions concerning who is the USPPI in a transaction, please contact Census at 800-549-0595. The most visible effect of this change within AESDirect is to replace all references to “Exporter” with “USPPI” throughout the service.

Browser Filtering

AESDirect is designed to support Netscape Navigator/Communicator Versions 4.06 and higher, and Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 4.0, 4.01, 5.0, and 5.01. Use of other versions or browsers is not supported.

With the implementation of this change AESDirect will detect access by other browsers and inform users that they are will need to install and use a supported browser to continue using the service. This change includes the ability to test your browser for compatibility with AESDirect and instructions on how to obtain supported browsers.

Users accessing with the AOL or CompuServe browser will need to convert to either of the supported browsers. Users accessing with Internet Explorer Version 5.5 will not be affected by this.

Ocean Carriers and NVOCCs will be able to register as Data Entry Filers (DEC)

The AESDirect on-line registration process will be changed to allow ocean carriers and NVOCCs to register as DEC filers. Companies wishing to register as DEC filers are required to complete this new on-line registration process and sign a Census DEC Agreement. Instructions on how to obtain the agreement will be included.

If you have any questions or problems, please contact our Support Staff at boc-support@tradegate2000.com or call 877-715-4433.
