April 25, 2009 – Junior Ranger Day Join Ranger Rebecca and others from 1-4 p.m. in celebrating Junior Rangers at the Mississippi River Visitor Center (directions) in the lobby of the Science Museum of Minnesota in St. Paul. There will be three different stations where you can learn about different aspects of the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area. Become a new Junior Ranger or receive a special gift for being a returning Junior Ranger.
June 12 - 13, 2009 (Tentative date) – Mississippi River Bio Blitz
Participate in the first Bio Blitz sponsored by the National Park Service, among others, from 5 p.m. on June 12 to 5 p.m. June 13 along the Mississippi River. Help scientists count lichens, insects, birds, mammals and other plants and animals. There will be more information as we near the date.
July 11 – Fossil Hunt at St. Paul Brickyards Join Ranger Rebecca and other Junior Rangers for a fossil hunt at the historic St. Paul Brickyards on Lilydale Road (directions) to see what kind of creatures lived there thousands of years ago. This event begins at 10:00 a.m. and finishes at noon.
