About the National Family Caregiver Support Program
The purpose of the program is to help families sustain their efforts to care for older relatives with chronic illness or disability in their homes. This program is available through the Commission and local Area Agencies on Aging and Disability.
The NFCSP was authorized under the Older Americans Act Amendment of 2000. Funding is provided by the U.S. Administration on Aging.
Program Eligibility
-Adult family members (age 18 years or older) or other adult informal caregivers providing care to individuals 60 years of age and older.
-Adult family members or other adult informal caregivers providing care to individuals any age with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.
-Grandparent and other relatives (not parents) 55 years of age and older providing care to children under the age of 18 years:
-Grandparents and other relatives (not parents) 55 years of age and older providing care to adults, age 18 to 59 years, with disabilities.
