(Atlanta, GA – April 21, 2009) Today, at a ceremony in Louisville, Kentucky, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognized Fetter Printing Company as one of the 89 Energy Star award winning partners leading the way through energy efficient approaches and practices to help fight climate change. In addition to Fetter, Lowe’s Companies, USAA Real Estate Company, PepsiCo, JC Penney, Food Lion, LLC, Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing North America, Inc., and Marriot International, Inc. are some of the Energy Star award winners chosen from more than 15,000 partners in the energy star program. Environmental Justice Grant Will Aid Rock Hill, S.C., Community
(ATLANTA – APRIL 2, 2009) The U.S. EPA Region 4 today awarded A Place for Hope, Inc., in Rock Hill, S.C., a $20,000 Environmental Justice Small Grant. The award is among approximately $800,000 in grants made by EPA to organizations working with communities facing environmental justice challenges throughout the country. Full Story
Summary of Past and Current EPA Response Activities Regarding The TVA Kingston Coal Ash Spill - March 31, 2009
On December 22, 2008, a failure of the northeastern dike used to contain fly ash occurred at the dewatering area of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Kingston Fossil Plant in Harriman, Roane County, Tennessee. Subsequent to the dike failure, approximately 5.4 million cubic yards of fly ash sludge was released into a branch of the Emory River. Full Summary
