friendly page] 26th Defendant Sentenced in Pharmacy Burglary Scheme MAY 05 -- (Seattle) – DEA Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Arnold R. Moorin and the United States Attorney for the Western District of Washington, Jeffrey Sullivan, announced that on May 1, 2009, Brian P. Green -was sentenced in U.S District Court to 54 months in prison for conspiring to burglarize pharmacies and distribute oxycodone in the Pacific Northwest. Green was ordered to pay restitution to the pharmacies for physical damage caused during the burglaries and for the value of the stolen drugs. Between 2004 and 2006, Green was part of an extensive pharmacy burglary ring in the Marysville, Washington area which targeted pharmacies over a 4-state area, including Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and California. During the burglaries, thousands of pills were stolen and the burglars could achieve a profit of up to $100,000 per burglary by selling the drugs at a mark-up in an illicit market. In the Seattle area, an eighty milligram oxycodone tablet can sell for as much as $80 per pill. These drugs are highly addictive and their non-prescribed use has resulted in serious medical calamities, including overdose and death. Green is the 26 th and final defendant to be charged and convicted in this investigation. Prior to Green, 25 Snohomish County individuals have entered felony guilty pleas in United States District Court for their role in this burglary and drug distribution scheme. During this time, Washington state lead the country in the number of pharmacy burglaries committed. From 2007 forward, the number of pharmacy burglaries has dramatically declined within the State of Washington. The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Snohomish County Drug Task Force, Northwest High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (NW HIDTA), Marysville, Everett, Medford and Salem Police Departments.
