PURPOSE

The purpose of this notice is to alert the scientific community that 
effective immediately, any R21 application submitted under the NOVEL 
GENETIC METHODS TO MAP FUNCTIONAL NEURONAL CIRCUITS AND SYNAPTIC CHANGE 
program announcement, PAR-03-007, published in the NIH Guide for 
Contracts and Grants on October 10, 2002, at 
http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PAR-03-007.html must use 
the NIH EXPLORATORY/DEVELOPMENTAL RESEARCH GRANT AWARD (R21) program 
announcement (see http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PA-03-107.html).  
The NIDA Exploratory/Developmental program announcement 
cited in PAR-03-007 is no longer active.  

This change does not affect special announcements such as the Cutting 
Edge Basic Research Award (CEBRA), the Behavioral Science Track Award 
for Rapid Transition (B/START) or Imaging - Science Track Award For 
Research Transition (I/START) Program Announcements (see 
http://www.drugabuse.gov/funding/resfundslist.html for details on these 
programs).
