Forest Road 42 Closed for Repairs

VANCOUVER, WABeginning this week, Forest Road 42 (east of Sunset Campground) will close for repairs. Forest Road 42 will be closed weekdays for most of the summer, so that critical repairs can be made.

The road will be closed at 7 a.m. each Monday, and reopen on Fridays at 5 p.m. The road will be closed from the junction with Forest Road 4205, one mile east of Sunset Campground, to the junction with Forest Road 53. Forest Road 42 will remain open to Forest visitors on weekends, but a high-clearance vehicle is recommended.

This closure does not effect access to the popular Silver Star area.

For additional information, please contact Fred Netzel at the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument Office.
