Mount St. Helens Live!

VANCOUVER, WA--A "live camera" picture of Mount St. Helens from the Johnston Ridge Observatory has been added to the Gifford Pinchot National Forest's Web site. Visitors can check on current conditions at the mountain from their home to help them in planning their day. The image is updated every ten minutes.

Recently added features to the Gifford Pinchot's Web site are on-line updates of trails, roads and camping conditions on the National Forest. Ranger Districts on the Forest are now updating this information in the Recreation Report as they become aware of changes in conditions. This provides visitors with the most recent information available.

For Mountain Bike enthusiasts, a new section has been added, providing information on biking opportunities on the Forest.

Visitors can also search the Forest's Web site for trails by area, name, quality of experience, or trail number. There is also a section of maps showing the location, description and difficulty level of the trails and other important information. In addition, this site offers information on a variety of recreation opportunities.

We hope these features will help those planning a visit to the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.
