Southern Trail Guide Overview Map

This vicinity map (39k gif image) provides an overview of the southern Gifford Pinchot. The area has been divided into 11 sections. Each has its own map, with trail narratives following.  Map size varies between 35k and 75k which can cause slow download times.

There are three ways to locate trails. If you know the location, look on the vicinity map and click in the area of interest. If you know the trail name, look in the Trail Name Index. If you know the number, look it up in the Numerical Listing Index.

Season of use

Season of use varies depending on elevation and exposure. You can expect that snow in mid to late October during a typical year will bury trails above 4,500 feet. Many high elevation trails are free of snow by July. Check with the ranger stations for up-to-date information before planning your trip.

Trail Area Maps

Maps in this guide are for general orientation. A topographical map should be used for more thorough and precise information. Maps are available at the ranger stations.
