The USDA Cooperative Extension Service has a large network of locally based specialists who are often referred to as Extension Educators or Agents. These individuals are often the most accessible experts that the public has for getting pesticide information. They can assist in making recommendations, but can also be called upon to help the public better understand when to use (or not use) a pesticide and if they use a pesticide, how to use it safely. The U.S. EPA is highly dependent upon and appreciates all of the education and outreach services provided by the State Cooperative Extension Service programs in this Region.
