 What is a Decision Notice and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI)?

The Decision Notice and FONSI identifies:

• the alternative from the Environmental Assessment (EA) the agency has chosen to implement.
• the rationale for choosing that alternative.
• the Finding of No Significant Impact that shows that there is no significant impact on the human environment and explains why an environmental impact statement is not necessary.

Unless the EA is to be attached, the Decision Notice and Finding of No Significant Impact will also summarize the EA. The signing of the Decision Notice and Finding of No Significant Impact completes the environmental analysis process for the project.
