ATV Use

The White Mountain National Forest is closed to off-road vehicles during summer months. With a highway registered vehicle, you can enjoy scenic driving on several rustic woods roads.

The State of New Hampshire provides several ATV trail systems; please visit their website to explore riding opportunities.

Visit the State of Maine's website for ATV opportunities in Maine.

On White Mountain National Forest land, ATV's are allowed on snowmobile trails when ground is frozen and snow covered. For more information about snowmobiling, visit the NH Bureau of Trails website or the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife website.

The 2005 White Mountain National Forest Land and Resource Management Plan has more information on how the ATV issue was addressed.
