WIC is a federally funded program that provides healthy supplemental foods and nutrition services in a supportive environment for:
- Pregnant women
- Postpartum and breastfeeding women
- Infants
- Children up to age five
- Dads, grandparents and guardians may enroll children in their custody
The Goal of the WIC Program is to decrease the risk of poor birth outcomes and to improve the health of the children during critical stages of growth and development. WIC has played a critical role in building a better future for children in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Since 1974, Pennsylvania WIC has proven effective in preventing and improving nutrition related health problems within the WIC population at over 320 locations in the state. WIC scored second highest in customer satisfaction among 30 high impact government programs.
