Charles A. Shanor, a former EEOC General Counsel (1987-90), represented the Commission in argument before the Supreme Court (only EEOC General Counsel ever to do so) in Lorance v. AT& T Technologies. As General Counsel, he also was responsible for managing the Commission's national litigation program, and provided technical assistance to Congress as it drafted the Civil Rights Act of 1991. Now a member of the law faculty at Emory University, Prof. Shanor is a graduate of Rice University, a Rhodes Scholar (earning a B.A. and M.A. from Oxford University), and earned his law degree from the University of Virginia. At Emory, Prof. Shanor teaches employment discrimination, labor law, and constitutional law.
