Joseph M. Sellers led the Equal Employment Opportunity Project for the Washington Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs as Director for more than 15 years. As Director, Mr. Sellers litigated more than 100 civil rights cases, was counsel of record in more than 25 civil rights class action cases, and has tried the only pattern and practice employment cases that have gone to juries. Mr. Sellers was also counsel in the first cases in the country that adapted the use of civil rights testing to challenge discriminatory hiring and job referral decisions. He also participated in the drafting of the Civil Rights Act of 1991. A graduate of Brown University and the Case Western Univ. Law School, Mr. Sellers currently is a member of Cohen, Milstein, Hausfeld & Toll, where he continues to litigate Title VII class action cases.
