Ann Hopkins

Ann Hopkins, was the plaintiff in the seminal case, Price Waterhouse v. Hopkins. Ms. Hopkins proved that gender-based stereotypes played a substantial, motivating role in her employer's refusal to admit her to the partnership. Ms. Hopkins, the only person ever admitted to a partnership under Title VII by judicial order, retired from Price Waterhouse in 2002. She is the author of the book, So Ordered: Making Partner the Hard Way (Univ. of Mass. Press 1996), and regularly lectures on her experience to business and legal groups.
