STATUS REPORTS ON REFORMS TO BE DISCUSSED AT EEOC COMMISSION
MEETING
WASHINGTON -- The next meeting of the U.S. Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission will be Tuesday, October 22, at 2 p.m. in
the Clarence M. Mitchell, Jr. Conference Room (9th floor), 1801 L
Street, N.W.
The public is urged to attend the open session of the meeting in
which the following matters are scheduled for consideration:
- Announcement of Notation Votes
- Status Reports from the Office of Program Operations
and the Office of General Counsel on the implementation of the
Charge Prioritization Procedures and the National Enforcement
Plan
A closed session will follow immediately, at which time the
Commission will deliberate on recommendations by the agency's
Office of General Counsel on whether Commissioners should authorize
litigation against alleged violators of Commission-enforced
statutes.
- EEOC enforces Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which
prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion,
sex, or national origin; the Age Discrimination in Employment Act;
the Equal Pay Act; Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act,
which prohibits employment discrimination against people with
disabilities in the private sector and state and local governments;
prohibitions against discrimination affecting individuals with
disabilities in the federal government; and sections of the Civil
Rights Act of 1991.
