Fire Island National Seashore hires a limited number of temporary employees each year, and refills vacant permanent positions as workload and funding permits.

SCA interns work with Fire Island National Seashore's threatened and endangered species program each summer, constructing protective exclosures around piping plover nests, and monitoring miles of beach to document the birds' progress. |

SCA Internships at Fire Island
There are also opportunities to work at Fire Island through the Student Conservation Association resource management internship program. Fire Island National Seashore fills several wildlife management and biology intern positions in the spring (mid-March to mid-September), early summer (late-April to late-August), and late summer (late-June to late-October).
These are non-paid positions, but a small stipend and housing is provided.
