Welcome to i-MapNJ DEP, one of NJDEP's environmental mapping tools that can provide you with information about your neighborhood, county, or state (NJ). With this easy-to-use application, users can view and query the best of the NJDEP's Geographic Information System (GIS) data. Homeowners can find out what's in their backyard; environmental organizations, planners, realtors, and builders can identify open space, various regulatory boundaries, sensitive lands, watersheds, and much, much more. The i-MapNJ DEP application updates the GIS layers found in the other NJDEP i-MapNJ applications. (This application does not provide a link to the NJEMS enterprise NJDEP database. The enhancement of this function is planned for a later release.) Oct/Nov 2008 release: GIS data is accessed in "data layers" in the i-MapNJ DEP application. In the Oct/Nov 2008 release of i-MapNJ DEP, there are over 60 GIS layers. The Critical Environmental and Historic Sites layer has been added, Pinelands Management Areas and 7 other layers have been updated. Although the application is very user friendly, you might want to first review the Tutorials before diving in. Then take it for a test drive and see for yourself how much environmental information you can access. Remember, to use the i-MapNJ DEP application you need only open your browser, connect to the internet, go to the DEP-BGIS webpage, click on Interactive Mapping and then click on i-MapNJ DEP to launch the application. NJDEP offers training classes in i-MapNJ for the public. View our Training Page for upcoming session information. If you have a question or comment, please contact us and we will be sure to get back to you as soon as we can.
