EJ Small Grants Program and EJ Collaborative Problem-Solving Cooperative Agreement Program

Updates

EPA issued two Environmental Justice Small Grants (EJSG) and one Environmental Justice Collaborative Problem-Solving Cooperative Agreement (EJ CPS) in 2007. The EJSG awards included $50,000 grants for The Way Home in Manchester, NH and Committee for Boston Public Housing in Boston, MA. $100,000 EJ CPS grant was given to Vietnamese American Initiative for Development (Viet-Aid).

In 2008, the EJSG Program's application deadline for the Request for Applications (RFAs) was June 30, 2008. The EJ CPS program is currently under evaluation. EPA anticipates the program to continue in the future.

Environmental Justice Small Grants Program

The purpose of this grant program is to support and empower communities that are working on local solutions to local environmental and public health issues. In addition, the EJSG aims to assist recipients in building collaborative partnerships. These partnerships help recipients understand and address the environmental and public health issues in their communities. Read a detailed fact sheet about the program. (PDF) (2 pp., 56 KB)

Each award will be in the amount of $20,000. All projects must have a period of one year.

Environmental Justice Collaborative Problem-Solving Cooperative Agreement Program

The purpose of EJ CPS is to help communities address existing local environmental and/or public health issues. The program assists recipients in developing proactive, strategic and visionary approaches to address environmental and public health problems in their communities. EJ CPS projects cannot focus on education or training.

Grants are awarded for a three-year period and total $100,000 each.
