What is the Refuge Support Group Grant Program?

The Refuge Support Group Grant Program is funded by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and administered by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (www.nfwf.org). This program provides competitive grants ($1,000 - $5,000) to creative and innovative programs that increase the number and effectiveness of organizations interested in assisting the refuge system nationwide. Funds are available to Refuge Support Groups interested in assisting a refuge or a group of refuges and the refuge system as a whole.

Grant funds are provided to support three areas of emphasis:

  • Start-up - to assist refuge support groups with formative and/or operational support
  • Capacity building - to help strengthen refuge support groups capacity to be more effective
  • Project specific - for non-profit organizations seeking support for a specific project.
