PURPOSE

The Division of AIDS (DAIDS) of the National Institute of Allergy and 
Infectious Diseases (NIAID) announces the closure of Program Announcement, 
PA-01-055, “NEW TECHNOLOGIES FOR HIV AND HIV VACCINE RELATED RESEARCH” that 
appeared in the NIH Guide on February 22, 2001 at 
http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PA-01-055.html. 

The final receipt date for applications was September 1, 2003.

The PA solicited applications for novel and innovative research in target 
areas to develop improved technologies for detecting HIV, evaluating immune 
responses to HIV vaccines, and expanding immune function measurements; and 
utilizing novel technologies to measure and correlate immune responses that 
are associated with efficacy of licensed non-HIV vaccines.  At this time 
investigator-initiated research in these areas is still strongly encouraged 
through R01 applications.
