High
Water on the Stehekin River
19
Jan 2005
These photos
were taken of the Stehekin River upstream of Stehekin in the North Cascades.
The scene is somewhat surreal because of all the snow and ice that is
still in the trees. This is a sign that the high water is not due to
local snowmelt, but rather from the heavy rains near the crest of the
Cascades.
Our thanks to
Bill Fitzpatrick, District Ranger at the Lake Chelan National Recreation
Area for these pictures.
