PUBLICATIONS--Release of report, Technical training notes in ground-water hydrology WGS-Mail Stop 411 May 8, 1990 OFFICE OF GROUND WATER TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM NO. 90.05 Subject: PUBLICATIONS--Release of report, "Technical training notes in ground-water hydrology: Radial flow to a well," by G. D. Bennett, T. E. Reilly, and M. C. Hill The subject report has been published as Water-Resources Investigations Report 89-4134. The report is a tutorial on the basic concepts of radial flow in ground water and its representation in numerical models. A copy of the report is attached. The report contains a number of problems (with answers) to be solved by the reader. The discussion focuses on the physical characteristics of the radial-flow system in the vicinity of a well, particularly those characteristics that are common to most well-aquifer systems the concepts of finite difference simulation and flow-net analysis are used to illustrate these characteristics. We recommend that this report be made available to all ground- water hydrologists. Thomas E. Reilly Acting Chief, Office of Ground Water Attachment WRD Distribution: A, B, S, FO, PO
