With their reboot of the late Gene Roddenberry's cultural touchstone "Star Trek," director J.J. Abrams and writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman have reimagined the seminal 1960s sci-fi series from before the beginning. They've recast the original USS Enterprise's crew as, mostly, untried young Starfleet cadets on their first mission.
