NWS and AWS/WeatherBug join together in a new partnership.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE & AWS CONVERGENCE TECHNOLOGIES JOIN TOGETHER IN A NEW PUBLIC/PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP TO EXPAND USE OF WEATHERBUG DATA

The leaders of NOAA's National Weather Service (NWS) and AWS Convergence Technologies, Inc. (AWS/WeatherBug) today signed a new memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the organizations to more effectively incorporate data from AWS' nationwide, live WeatherBug Tracking Stations into NWS operations. NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, is an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Calling the new agreement β€œan excellent example of the public and private sectors working together for the good of the American people,” retired Air Force Brig. Gen. David L. Johnson, director of NOAA's National Weather Service, signed the new MOU along with Robert Marshall, president and chief executive officer of AWS Convergence Technologies. β€œI salute AWS' civic minded approach to safeguarding lives and hope others in the private sector will follow their lead,” Johnson said.
