OBS
Purpose
1. To detect and locate earthquake activity in the
Northeast gulf of Alaska (NEGOA). 2. To obtain measuremenst of
seafloor accelerations accompanying both strong and weak
earthquakes. 3. To demonstrate and evaluate the effeectiveness of
the USGS OBIPs when used in the seismic refraction mode.
Information to be Derived
Seismic study data;OBIPs performance at deployment and recovery
Summary
OBIP deployments - 13; OBIP recoveries - 8; Seismic
refraction - 3 lines @165 km; Bathymetry/subbottom profiling - 580
km; XBT launches - 12; Shipek bottom samples - 8
Notes
3.5 kHz Bathymetery and Subbottom Profiling System
Air compressors
Air gun Streamers
Seismic ampifiers
Sonobuoy refraction system
