Locations and Laboratories

Fresno Forestry Sciences Laboratory

Dedicated in 1979, the Forestry Sciences Laboratory houses scientists who are carrying on a heritage of research first begun in Fresno about 1934. Located on a 10 acre site on the north campus of California State University at Fresno, this 7000 square foot structure houses a complex of offices, research laboratories, and computer facilities. Laboratory studies include chemical analyses of soil and plant nutrients.

Most research centered at this laboratory, however, is done at field locations in the Sierra Nevada and at the San Joaquin Experimental Range -- about 4500 acres of oak-pine woodlands, located 28 miles north of Fresno, near O'Neals, in Madera County. The Experimental Range is managed cooperatively by California State University at Fresno.
