Our team focuses on four areas
of inquiry relating to communities and forest management:
I. Understand forest-community connections and how social
and ecological processes related to forests and their management
are linked
II. Examine socioeconomic change in communities related
to forest management, contribute to the development of
related theory and concepts, and conduct socioeconomic
monitoring of forest-community relations
III. Examine models of community-based forest management,
their contributions to forest and community sustainability,
and the role of institutions in collaborative resource
management
IV. Investigate the use of traditional and local ecological
knowledge in the management of public, private, and tribal
forest lands
Current Research
• Understanding
Agency and Community Dynamics in Restoring Fire-Adapted
Ecosystems • Managing
for Wildland Fire and Invasive Species on Family Forest
