Luna, Tara; Dumroese, R. Kasten; Landis, Thomas D. 2006. Collecting dormant hardwood cuttings for western riparian restoration projects. Reforestation, Recreation Tech Tips. Missoula, MT: U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, Technology and Development Center. 8 p.

Cuttings differ from seedlings because all new daughter plants that arise from cuttings are genetically identical to the parent plant. Cuttings can be long or short, depending on how they are used.
