Coastal America
Matching Collaborative Tools to Coastal Challenges
The Coastal America Partnership is an action-oriented, results-driven collaboration process dedicated to restoring and preserving coastal ecosystems and addressing critical environmental issues.
Our Partnership brings together people and resources from federal agencies, state and local governments, nongovernmental organizations, and the private sector to collaboratively address our nation's coastal environmental challenges.
With a goal of better management of coastal resources, the partnership coordinates the statutory responsibilities and combines the resources and expertise of 16 federal agencies, 22 Coastal Ecosystem Learning Centers, and hundreds of corporate partners.
As a result, the Coastal America Partnership maximizes the environmental and economic benefits—and minimizes the costs—of addressing complex watershed, coastal, and marine problems.

"Government should be collaborative. Collaboration actively engages Americans in the work of their Government. Executive departments and agencies should use innovative tools, methods, and systems to cooperate among themselves, across all levels of Government, and with nonprofit organizations, businesses, and individuals in the private sector. Executive departments and agencies should solicit public feedback to assess and improve their level of collaboration and to identify new opportunities for cooperation."
- President Barack Obama
Memorandum for the Heads of Executive Departments and Agencies: Transparency and Open Government, March 20, 2009

On
April 22, 2009 the Veracruz Aquarium unveiled their newest exhibit, the Ocean
Today Kiosk. The Veracruz Aquarium is
the first aquarium to install a Kiosk after the five pilot sites that launched
in September 2008. The expansion of the
Ocean Today Kiosk project was made possible by a generous hardware donation
from the Panasonic Corporation. Shipment
of the hardware from the United
States to the Veracruz Aquarium was paid for
by the Corporate Wetlands Restoration Partnership.
The inclusion of the Ocean Today Kiosk at the
Aquarium is a stunning addition and is already gaining a lot of positive
attention and feedback from aquarium staff and visitors. The kiosk is especially important because it
is allowing agencies and institutions in the United States to reach a broader
international audience with its messages, data and information. |
