Purpose
To monitor water and sediment from 10 beach sites for the presence of sewage
indicator organisms; to use the information gained to address issues of sediment
resuspension of pathogens for future models; to test the utility of a new
indicator organism.
Information to be Derived
Counts of sewage indicator organisms: fecal coliforms, enterococci, aeromonas, and clostridium perfringens. Total bacterial direct counts, presence/absence of adenovirus, and grain size analysis of the sediment.
Notes
Project will involve sampling these 10 sites once a month for a year.
