The goal of the Monongahela National Forest
is to provide the highest level of access for persons with disabilities
while maintaining the character of the landscape that people come
to the forest to enjoy.
Many of our facilities have
been designed or modified to accomodate visitors with disabilities.
We continue to make modifications to eliminate barriers, and accessibility
is an important factor in all of our facility design.
Please see the recreation
site index for a list of facilities which are accessible. A brochure
is also available, through our partnership with the West Virginia
Paralyzed Veterans of America.
In particular, we recommend
the Falls
of Hills Creek Trail, Stuart
Campground, the
Highland
Scenic Highway Overlooks
and Picnic
sites, Cranberry
Mountain Nature Center, Seneca
Rocks Discovery Center, Lake
Sherwood Recreation Area
and Swimming
Beach, and Spruce
Knob Lake Fishing Site as our most accessible.
But remember, the national
forest is a rustic place where the natural enviroment takes precedence.
To maintain that desired character, not all facilities, trails,
and paths can be modified to provide full accessibility.
If you have questions, please
contact any of our offices. The telephone numbers listed on the

The USDA Forest
Service is committed to making its web sites accessible
to all USDA customers and employees. All of the agency
web sites are undergoing review and redesign as necessary
to ensure that they meet or exceed the requirements of
Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
Many of our
web sites currently meet the Section 508 accessibility
standards. Furthermore, the USDA Forest Service continues
to work on making all web sites accessible. Thank you
very much for your patience through this redesign process.
