Trial Description

Purpose:

Lymphadenectomy may remove cancer cells that have spread to nearby lymph nodes. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. It is not yet known whether conventional surgery is more effective with or without lymphadenectomy and/or radiation therapy in treating endometrial cancer.

Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of conventional surgery with or without lymphadenectomy and/or radiation therapy in treating patients who have endometrial cancer.

Eligibility:

Eligibility criteria include the following:

Final eligibility for a clinical trial is determined by the health professionals conducting the trial.

Treatment/Intervention:

Patients will be randomly assigned to receive either conventional surgery alone or conventional surgery plus lymphadenectomy and/or radiation therapy. Quality of life will be assessed periodically. Patients will be evaluated every 3 months for 1 year and every 6 months for 1 year.
