Campground Conditions

Payson Lakes Campground – The water system in the campground will be replaced this summer.  There will be no water available to visitors.  Some restrooms will be affected, since they are operated using a flush system.  Portable restrooms will be located throughout the campground.  Visitors should bring their own water for drinking, cooking, etc.  Beginning March 4, 2009, visitors will no longer be able to reserve sites for the 2009 season.  Loop C will be closed.  Loops A, B, and group sites that have not already been reserved will be open to “walk-in” campers.

Whiting Campground - Spanish Fork Ranger District
There is no water available in Whiting Campground. Campers will be required to bring their own water for drinking, washing and cooking. There is only water available to run the flushing toilets. Vehicles with trailers will not be permitted to park at the Whiting Campground trailhead from Memorial Day through Labor Day. During this time, all vehicles with trailers will be required to park at the lower equestrian parking lot. This restriction is being implemented to manage the increasing use at the trailhead.

Mill Hollow Campground Closed until Summer 2008 - Heber / Kamas Ranger District
The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources has drained Mill Hollow Reservoir. Mill Hollow Reservoir does not meet current dam safety criteria as required by the Utah Division of Water Rights, Office of Dam Safety. For more information read the press release issued by the Utah Division of Wildlife (.pdf - 10 Kb)

Little Mill Campground - Pleasant Grove Ranger District
Closed until 2008 for campground reconstruction.

Diamond Fork - Spanish Fork Ranger District
Dispersed (undeveloped) camping is not allowed from the intersection with Spanish Fork Canyon (Highway 6), continuing 12 miles to an area known as Tanner Ridge. This restriction is to allow for rehabilitation of the areas disturbed by the construction of the Diamond Fork System.

Other Information

Diamond Fork - Spanish Fork Ranger District
The Central Utah Water Conservancy District managed the construction of a tunnel to transport water for about 6 miles from the Sixth Water Aqueduct to the Diamond Fork Pipeline.
