America the Beautiful - Interagency Recreation Pass

In 2007, The Federal Government announced an all inclusive Interagency Recreation Pass titled "America the Beautiful - the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass"

Interagency Recreation Passes are honored nationwide at all Forest Service, National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, and US Fish & Wildlife Service sites charging entrance or standard amenity fees. This program replaced the Golden Eagle, Golden Age and Golden Access Passports and the National Parks Pass.

Many recreation uses and activities continue to be free on all National Forests, such as general access, pass-through travel, scenic overlooks and pullouts, parking on the side of roads and walk-up camping at undeveloped sites.

There is one Interagency Annual Passes and two Interagency Lifetime Passes that are available; The Interagency Annual Pass, Interagency Senior Pass and Interagency Access Pass.

The passes are available at most national forest or grassland offices.

American Fork Canyon / Alpine Loop

The American Fork Canyon - Alpine Scenic Loop Backway is more popular than ever. It is estimated that over a million people visit the canyon annually. Due to heavy use, the recreational areas and natural and cultural resources of the canyon are being impacted. The fees collected at the entrance station remain in the area to improve visitor services, maintain recreation facilities, enhance wildlife habitat and protect natural resources.

The following passes are available for purchase at the entrance stations and self-service fee tubes:

• 3-Day -- $6.00
• 7-Day -- $12.00
• Annual -- $45.00

Visitors who use State Road 92 (Alpine Loop) and do not use recreation facilities, are not subject to fees. All passes are fully transferable between American Fork Canyon and Mirror Lake.

Mirror Lake

Mirror Lake is considered by many to be Utah's most beautiful natural mountain lake. It is stocked with rainbow and brook trout, making for a popular fishing and picnicking area. Mirror Lake sits off the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway. In addition to scenic viewpoints and picnic areas, numerous lakes and campgrounds line this high-mountain byway.

Visitors who use State Road 150 (Mirror Lake) and do not use recreation facilities, are not subject to fees. All passes are fully transferable between American Fork Canyon and Mirror Lake.
