A Time to Celebrate the Earth!

Mission Director Visits USAID Educational Projects in Zahrieh and Minieh in North Lebanon

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID)/Lebanon Mission Director Denise A. Herbol visited two USAID-funded projects worth $99,000 in the areas of Zahrieh (Tripoli) and Minieh in North Lebanon on May 6. The Safadi Foundation Computer Training Centers received $50,000 from USAID to procure 91 computers for computer centers in: Batroun, Koura, Qobbeh, Zahrieh, Minieh, El Mina, Abi Samra, Halba and Mouharrem. The Safadi Foundation provides free-of-charge computer and English language courses to disadvantaged youth to develop their professional skills to enter the job market.  Ms. Herbol toured the Zahrieh center featuring 12 computers and met with some of the hundreds of young students benefitting from the center’s services... USAID Opens New Wastewater Treatment Plant in Aitanit

The U.S. Government is continuing its assistance to improve the lives of Lebanese citizens by alleviating the pollution of the Litani River.  The United States Agency for International Development (USAID)/Lebanon Mission Director Denise A. Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) in the United States - Deadline September 14, 2009

FLTAThe U.S. Embassy invites teachers and graduate students of English to apply for the 2010 Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program.  This fellowship offers such teachers and graduate students between ages 21 and 29 an opportunity to study teaching methodology and to work as Arabic language assistants for an academic year at a U.S. college or university.  During the past five years, Lebanese fellows have been placed at several prestigious American institutions.  Five Lebanese teachers are currently in the United States...
