Journal Entry   Back Divas of Deep Fork (Women in the Outdoors Event) Southwest Region, April 4, 2009 Print Friendly Version Deep Fork NWR hosted its first annual Women in the Outdoors event with 15 women registered to participate in the event.  Activities at the event included Basic field skills, birding and attracting birds to your back yard, shotgun techniques, flyfishing, field dressing/blood trailing/tracking, archery, digital photography, and game calling.  Door prizes and lunch were provided by the Refuge and the Friends Group.  A silent auction  and raffle, sponsored by the National Wild Turkey Federation, ended the day's activities.  One of the women  stated that the best part of the day was all of the hands on activities that she participated in.
