On August 28, 2008, Austin Field Office ) and the Texas State Administrator attended a meeting hosted by the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce to discuss the use of regional landscape planning strategies.  The meeting focused on areas surrounding Camp Bullis in northwest San Antonio.  Meeting participants included City and County elected officials, the Commanding General for Fort Sam Houston, and representatives from the real estate and development business sectors.  The meeting also discussed the use of more effective communication strategies to develop the RHCP or to resolve potential conflicts involving development and encroachment around Camp Bullis’ perimeter in order to sustain the viability of Camp Bullis’ training mission. Since the meeting, the Service has been invited to participate in a Joint Land Use Study involving the immediate off-post perimeter of Camp Bullis.
