New Jersey Field Office and Stone Harbor Adopt Beach Management Plan
Northeast Region, April 1, 2008
Print Friendly Version
On April 1, 2008, the Borough of Stone Harbor, New Jersey adopted a Conservation Plan for Stone Harbor Point providing protection and recovery efforts for beach-nesting and migratory birds as well as beach plants. The plan has been in development for two years. A second borough-wide plan adopted by the borough at the same time recognizes Stone Harbor Point as a valuable area for natural resources and as the borough's designated "protected zone." It also includes conservation measures if birds or plants occur in or colonize other parts of the borough's beaches. New Jersey Field Office's Stephanie Egger and Annette Scherer have worked hard with the borough and New Jersey's Endangered and Nongame Species Program to bring these two plans to fruition.
