SAN FRANCISCO BAY: Fran McTamaney Receives Award from International Environmental Group
California-Nevada Offices , November 17, 2007
Print Friendly Version

By Karla Tanner, San Francisco Bay NWRC:
The North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) has awarded Fran McTamaney, former environmental educator at San Francisco Bay NWRC, its award for "Outstanding Service to Environmental Education by an Individual at the Regional Level." The award is given each year to a person who has made a significant contribution to environmental education (EE) in an area of the person's country that extends beyond a local impact. Fran McTamaney and previous award recipients are highlighted on the NAAEE Web site, http://www.naaee.org/programs-and-initiatives/awards/

Although McTamaney was unable to attend the awards ceremony at the NAAEE conference in Virginia Beach, VA on November 17, her award was accepted by Georgia Jeppesen of the Service's National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, West Virginia.

McTameney, who recently retired from the Fish and Wildlife Service, was the winner of the Service's Sense of Wonder Award earlier this month.
