Ashland FRO fishery biologist Glenn Miller has renewed his license to a Master of Steam or Motor Vessels of not more than 100 gross registered tons (domestic tonnage) upon the Great Lakes and Inland Waters.  He now is also authorized to engage in commercial assistance towing

Miller first received his 50 gross registered tonnage license, along with the towing endorsement in April of 2002. 

Renewal of this type of license is required every five years and April of 2007 was renewal time.  With the time and type of effort obtained while working for the Ashland FRO on various projects on Lake Superior, utilizing the R/V Chub and Northern Shoveler, Glenn was able to obtain the upgrade to 100 gross registered domestic tonnage.
