National Conference on Ecosystem Restoration
Midwest Region, May 7, 2007
Print Friendly Version

Project Leader Tracy Hill traveled to Kansas City, Missouri, April 23, to attend the second National Conference on Ecosystem Restoration.  The theme for this year's conference was The Spirit of Cooperation: Integrating partnerships between science and management for sustainable ecosystem restoration.

National Conferences on Ecosystem Restoration grew out of a need for better integration and sharing of scientific information and communication of that information for use in resource management decisions.

Dr. Hill gave two presentations during the conference titled “Sturgeon response to Gavins Point Dam Flow Modifications, Lower Missouri River” and “Fish community evaluation of habitat mitigation sites in the Lower Missouri River”.

Both presentations highlighted work the Columbia FRO is engaged in on the Missouri River to aid in recovery of the federally endangered pallid sturgeon.

Approximately 1,000 resource professionals from state, federal, university and nongovernmental organizations participated in the conference.
