Print Friendly Version
On March 26, 2007, the Government Accountability Office interviewed Sherry Barrett and Marty Tuegel regarding benefits and disadvantages to the Federal government of working collaboratively with the Malpai Borderlands Group.  The Malpai Borderlands Group was selected as one of 7 collaborative conservation efforts in the United States to be included in the GAO study.  The GAO study was requested by Senator Ron Wyden and is expected to be completed in November 2007.  The interview focused on aspects of the conflicts managed by the group, policies and procedures of the collaborative effort, and its relationship with the various Federal stakeholders.   The GAO team also interviewed Bill Radke of the San Bernardino National Wildlife Refuge.  They will meet with the Center for Biological Diversity and other stakeholders, and they will attend the Malpai Borderland Group Board meeting on March 29, 2007, after which they will interview various Board members.
