Southwest Region, February 28, 2007
Print Friendly Version
Conducted educational presentation with live wildlife on loan from the Adobe Wildlife Center to the Lattie Coor Westside Headstart, Avondale, Arizona.  AESO staff displayed live animals and other educational materials for outreach  to approximately 72 pre-school-age children regarding the importance of wildlife resources and outdoor activities, consistent with "Last Child In The Woods" initiative.  Also, discussed wildlife issues with approximately 20 parents and teachers, including a discussion on the efforts that private individuals can take to stop the spread of the invasive quagga mussel while recreational boating and fishing.  Teachers were very appreciative and expressed interest in annual presentations for children entering school in the future.
