Chicago Field Office Participates in Becoming an Outdoors Woman Program
Midwest Region, September 9, 2006
Print Friendly Version

Becoming an Outdoors Woman is a program which offers outdoor skills workshops to women throughout the U.S.  In Illinois, this program is typically sponsored by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources; however, due to staff shortages, the event was sponsored by Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation.

In FY2006, Chicago Field Office’s Environmental Education Specialist served as an instructor (this was our 8th year for participating in BOW).  Skills taught included bird identification using binoculars and field guides, and plant identification using dichotomous keys and field guides.  Approximately 50 women attended the sessions taught by our Education Specialist.
