Print Friendly Version

Biologists from the East Lansing Field Office, and volunteers from the Michigan Natural Features Inventory, Michigan Department of Transportation and students from Calvin College, conducted the second census for the federally threatend Pitcher's thistle at P.J. Hoffmaster State Park, Muskegon, Michigan.

The first census occurred in 2004.

Counts were conducted July 20 and August 17, 2006, by 11 volunteers, including East Lansing Field Office biologists.  They counted more than 4,500 plants, slightly higher than 2004's results.
