The Lake Champlain Fish and Wildlife Resources Complex, consisting of the Lake Champlain Fish and Wildlife Resources Office and the Pittsford National Fish Hatchery, represented the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at the 2006 Yankee Sportsman’s Classic on January 20-22.  The Yankee Sportsman’s Classic is the largest fishing, hunting, and outdoor recreation exposition held in the State of Vermont.  The 2006 show attracted an estimated 15,000 visitors.  The exposition consisted of displays from various outdoor product vendors, conservation organizations, and natural resources agencies.  Visitors were invited to attend and participate in a host of educational seminars and informational presentations.

The Complex display featured a Service exhibit with information about the Northeast Region Fisheries Program, the Office’s Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program and Sea Lamprey Control Program, as well as the Service’s Law Enforcement Program.  Highlights of the display included live sea lamprey, Atlantic salmon and lake trout, as well as a continuous slide presentation of activities associated with the complex.  Biologists from the office and Pittsford National Fish Hatchery were present for the entire weekend to answer questions and promote the Service’s mission.
